News Summary of Collaboration and Shared Services from 25th January 2017



If you have submitted data for a shared service in the 2016 LGA Shared Service Map then we will be in touch shortly about the 2017 refresh of your entry.


The LGA have commissioned Shared Service Architecture to update the map in the coming weeks so they can publish a 2017 edition later in the year. We will let you know more next week.

Local Government

Oxfordshire County Council has proposed the abolition of all six of the county’s councils in order to create one new unitary authority for Oxfordshire. Read more

 
Four Buckinghamshire councils have voted at their respective council meetings in favour of a controversial proposal for two unitary authorities in the county - despite Buckinghamshire CC opposition. Read more

 
More than 200 authorities have opted to join a new national scheme, which will negotiate auditors’ contracts on their behalf. Read more

 
Christchurch MP Christopher Chope has urged the government to speed up the creation of a combined authority for Dorset. Read more



Health & Social Care

Local authority chief executives have warned that the government’s commitment to deliver greater funding certainty to councils has been “complicated” by the government’s decision to use the New Homes Bonus (NHB) to fund social care. Read more

What is interesting about this space is that unlike disruptive innovation that shakes up previously successful models, the shared services model continues to build innovation in both its range of offerings as well as the way it is being executed.
