The councils in Wales may be moving into collaborative
working in bulk if Mark Drakeford, the Welsh Cabinet Secretary for
Finance and Local Government, has his way.
The Welsh Local Government
Association (WLGA) hold their conference in
Cardiff tomorrow (03/11/16) in which a key topic will be the decision by Professor Drakeford to
encourage greater collaboration between the 22 Welsh councils at local and
regional level. The minister’s plan sounds more palatable to the councils and
more likely to succeed, than the previous forced merger to eight councils.
Eleven Welsh councils have sent staff on the SSA
programmes and a Cardiff based cohort completed the Postgraduate Certificate in
Shared Services (now Collaborative Transformation) a couple of years ago. We
have a stand at the conference to promote the Collaborative Leadership Programme,
which is now part of the Postgraduate Certificate in Collaborative Transformation.
So, come and say hello if you are at the conference.
Here is the rest of this week’s collaboration news and
jobs…
